Father’s Day Reminder – June 19th 2016!

Here our Senior Event Designer, Helen Fleming shares thoughts from the team...

With Father’s Day coming up this weekend we wanted to do a feature on the roles our dad’s play in your wedding, from walking you down the aisle, giving a touching speech or helping financially – thanks dad! At Mansfield Traquair the entrance is so grand and quite long so dad definitely needs to be there for support.

For the Father of the Bride their little girl’s wedding day is a very special day for them too and we have suggested some activities or personal gifts that we can give them to show how much we appreciate all they have done for us.

Big Day Out
Why not spend some precious time with your dad, perhaps a shared favourite pastimes such as a golfing day out finishing at the 19th hole or you cooking the BBQ instead – maybe have unburnt sausages for a change.

Food and Drinks
My dad loves food and Châteauneuf-du-Pape as you will see from his photo with he and I.  It does make him easy to buy a gift for as he is also quite partial to a curry which is great as suits both my dietaries and his food preferences. V Deep in Leith is great and we are going to try Tuk Tuk in Edinburgh soon – looking forward to it.
We have also had a couple of drinks tasting experiences including a gin tasting at the Sheraton, Pommery champagne at the Signet Library Colonnades,  Glengoyne whisky distillery tour /blending and tasting experience and a canapé and wine demonstration at Martin Wishart’ s Cook  School. As he likes whisky I might try and make one of Mansfield Traquair’s popular cocktails of the moment - the ‘Old Fashioned’. This is made by muddling sugar with bitters then adding whisky over ice and garnished with an orange slice and cocktail cherry. We have a lot of Mansfield Traquair American brides in 2016 and 2017 so you can also substitute the whisky for Bourbon.

Memento
If you have had your wedding day at Mansfield Traquair then what better way to reminisce with dad than gifting a photo of a special moment with dad on your wedding day together. There are lots of great websites geared up for personalised photo gifts such as NOTHS. You could also arrange to have the Father of The Bride’s speech framed as a lasting memory from the wedding day.

No Sock Zone!
Funnily enough socks do not feature highly on what dads would like for Father’s Day!

Special Someone
We do appreciate that the father figure may be someone else special to you that will give you the support on your wedding day and of course at other times. Whether is a family member, step parent, friend or other person important in your life the main thing is to remember they are there for you.
