Winter Wonderland

A fairy tale of a December wedding at Mansfield Traquair which we wanted to share. Inspired by the season, our designers went all Narnia, with glittering baubles and diamond icicles hanging from white and silver bare branches (yes, trees inside, way before William and Kate pinched this idea).

The weather helpfully gave us a light dusting of snow which perfectly complemented the bride’s fur shrug and the stunning ice palace of a cake. At night our lighting designers created a magical touch of deep pink neon which lit up the outside pillars and the inside was like delving inside a box of Turkish Delight, with more dark pinks and purples illuminating the dance floor and creating a spectacular effect on the already amazing ceiling.

This late December wedding inspired us to create a unique menu to reflect the Christmassy feel but with a bit of an edge. We loved the fact that our bride and groom wanted to join us on a seasonal culinary journey and so it was that our guests devoured black pudding and plum filled jambonette of chicken, brandy sauce, nutty crumbed mustard mash, honey roast swede and chestnuts for their main course followed by a phenomenal cranberry and chestnut tiramisu with malted shortbread for pudding – the perfect warming fare for the snow-sprinkled guests.
